FAQs about Manufactured Homes and Modular Home Builders

As modular home builders from Fairfax to Arlington to Alexandria, we often get asked the same questions over and over again. So we thought we would take the time to answer some of the most popular questions we are asked.

What are some of the benefits of choosing a modular home?

As modular home builders, we sing the praises of manufactured homes all of the time, mostly because modular homes give you the same high-quality construction at a fraction of the worry and stress. Because these homes are built in a factory and then transported to the work site, the weather and other potential scheduling delays are not an issue. These homes also tend to be more tightly built, which makes them more energy-efficient.

Do modular homes use the same type of building materials as traditionally built homes?

Yes. These homes are built using the same type of materials, but because they are built in a factory setting where the climate is controlled, the quality of the construction itself is usually superior to stick-built homes. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulates and monitors modular homes, just as they do stick-built homes. As modular home builders, we have to keep an eye on the home’s design, construction, strength, durability, transportability and more. These are all aspects that are regulated by this government agency.

Are modular homes customizable and insurable?

Yes to both. While manufactured homes come with standard features like every other home, these homes are easily customizable and come in a huge variety of floor plans. And they are also insurable. There are many different insurance companies that will insure modular homes.
